Things to Do

Everyone who comes to Vancouver (or lives here) has probably walked the seawall, strolled through the downtown corridor, or had coffee at Starbucks. What else is there to do? Here’s a quick list of things you can do all down one street – Robson Street!

  1. Visit the Vancouver Art Gallery. The Vancouver Art Gallery (affectionately called the VAG), is the largest of its type in Western Canada. With more than 9,000 items, and over 200 pieces from major artists, its bound to keep you occupied for a couple hours. Along with the everyday exhibits, the art gallery also features touring exhibits, of some of the biggest names around. Plus, the Vancouver Art Gallery has a gift shop, a library, a café, and now the 2010 Olympic countdown clock.
  2. Go Shopping on Robson Street! With either side of Robson Street lined with stores, its easy to spend an hour (or day) shopping at some of the best stores in the world. With stores ranging from Tiffany & Co., Coach, Betsey Johnson, Gap and so many more, finding the perfect fashion or accessory isn’t hard.
  3. Visit Stanley Park. Lost Lagoon is located at the end of Robson Street, and is on the edge of the world class Stanley Park. Head down there and spend a day in a dense forest, with expansive views, recreational fields, the Vancouver Aquarium, and lots of beaches. Vancouver’s Stanley Park is perfect year round.
  4. Read a book. The Vancouver Public Library (VPL) is located just off Robson, in a building that resembles a Coliseum. With over 1.3 million books, periodicals, and other reference materials, the library is bound to have anything and everything you’re looking for. Or, for those looking for a quiet place to escape and read, couches and tables can be found all about, so you’re sure to find a quiet little nook.
  5. Take in the night life. With countless restaurants lining the streets, Robson never seems to stay quiet for very long. With a wide selection of street performers and buskers, as well as classic cars, and the endless parade of visitors, what better way to spend an evening than just enjoying the street’s unique culture first hand. Maybe head out for a bite to eat, and then stop at one of the many Starbucks, and just soak up the sites.

The list of things to do on Robson Street is endless. For each person, it can be truly a unique experience. With a street lined on either side, from end to end with stores, restaurants, and local attractions, you’ll definitely be kept entertained for hours on end.
