Robson Street History:
Robson Street is named after John Robson, British Columbia’s Premier from 1889-1892. Originally lined with train tracks, this street perked the interest in local Vancouverites to build shops and restaurants in the area, as it became easily accessible from both locals and guests. In the early-mid 20th century, the northwest edge of Robson Street became a hub of German commerce and culture in Vancouver, and was often referred to as “Robsonstrasse”. Today, the street has flourished into one of the most expensive streets in Canada, as thousands of locals and visitors walk down it each day. With hotels, restaurants, and endless shopping, Robson Street has become a destination in itself.
